Canard Vineyard has produced hand-crafted wines for over thirty years. Since its creation, the vineyard has emphasized quality over quantity and makes only nine single, small production vineyard wines each year. Each of these wines is made from estate-grown, dry farmed grapes through sustainable farming practices.

Considered a historic vineyard in Napa Valley, Canard Vineyard is a twenty-five acre property located on the Northwest corner of Dunaweal Lane and the Silverado Trail in Calistoga. Old Zinfandel vines on the property are 135 years old and, over time, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc have been planted on the remaining acres. All vines are strictly cared for through meticulous techniques and practices.

The vineyard and historic home, known as Czapleski Ranch, was purchased by Rich and Carolyn Czapleski in 1983 when the couple was searching for a weekend retreat. A master gardener and interior designer, Carolyn has elevated the property its stunning condition and Rich, a conscientious farmer, has tended to the vines with the simple credo, “if you take care of the vines, the vines will take care of you.” With the help of winemaker Brian Graham and managing partner Adam Fox, the team at Canard Vineyard is small but talented – all pursuing the common goal of making the finest wines possible.

Did You Know? The name Canard comes from Rick’s nickname, Duck; Canard is French for “duck.”
