The Wine List
Wayfarer Estate Pinot Noir 2017, 94 Points RP
This has very complex aromas of primary fruit, wild herbs, blue fruit and a spicy, meaty edge. Assertive oak meets rich fruit. The palate is impressively pure, supple and richly flavored with blueberries and cherries. Such concentrated and delicious, darker-fruited pinot here.
Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red 2016, 93 Points RP
A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 3% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2016 CVR Columbia Valley Red Wine wafts from the glass with tones of rich and ripe red fruit with a soft tartness and subtle cedar spice on the nose. Full-bodied, the wine is sprinkled with sweet spice on the palate, giving way to a ripe tannic structure, and it concludes with a long finish with nuances of subtle dark cherry and elegant oak spice.
Chappellet Cabernet Franc 2017, 95 Points RP
The nose displays aromas that are both concentrated and complex, with layers of red currant, cassis, bay, sage and anise mingling with oak-inspired hints of nutmeg, clove and smoke. On the palate, this wine is sleek and elegant with seamless tannins and good natural acidity underscoring flavors of cherry, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, graphite and cigar box. Blend: 76% Cabernet Franc, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot
Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, 92 Points WS
Ripe and decadent with palate-pleasing notes of juicy plum, raspberry, and flour less chocolate cake, 2017 Caravan is supple yet firm with polished tannin complemented by dark, spicy notes of black currant and cinnamon. Cabernet Sauvignon, the lion’s share of the blend, adds layers of complexity and an ideal balance between sweet and savory elements. Caravan has a youthful energy that would reward several years of aging. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot.
Antinori Tiganello 2017, 96 Points RP
Ruby red in color, 2017 Tignanello offers aromas of ripe red fruits which complement delicate aromas of cloves and licorice; sweet notes of mint and chocolate complete its complex bouquet. The palate is rich and vibrant with velvety tannins. Its lengthy finish and aftertaste bring back aromatic notes perceived on the nose. Blend: 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc
Argiano Brunello 2015, 95 Points RP
Argiano’s Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red color. It presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body, and interesting, silky tannins. It unites potency and elegance and looks like having a promising future. With its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance.
Shafer One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, 95 Points JS
Made up of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Merlot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is deep garnet-purple colored with pronounced crème de cassis, blackberry pie and black forest cake notes with waft of bay leaves, cigar box, tar and smoked meats. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with a taut, muscular mid-palate
Muga Seleccion Especial Reserva 2015, 96 Points JS
The 2015 Selección Especial checks in as 70% Tempranillo and the balance Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano that’s an old vine and terroir selection. Aged 6 months in new oak followed by 24 months in 90% French oak and 10% American oak, it has a beautiful bouquet of blueberries, black raspberries, crushed violets, incense, and cedar. This gives way to a full-bodied, rich, powerful wine that has an incredible sense of elegance and finesse on the palate.
